Workshops

PATCH for Providers

Virtual AND in-person workshops available!

In this 90-minute workshop, PATCH Teen Educators share their authentic insights into the concerns, preferences, and realities of today's youth in health care settings. Participants are asked to reflect on their own policies and practice and are challenged to consider ways in which they could be more "youth-friendly". Health care providers from a variety of fields are encouraged to attend and participate in this workshop.

As a result of this educational activity learners will be able to:

  • Discuss and value the importance of adolescent concerns, attitudes, and preferences in health care settings.

  • Describe ways to provide high-quality, youth-friendly health care services.

Develop confidence and skills to build positive relationships and communicate effectively with teens.

  • Advocate for and effectively communicate about appropriate youth-friendly health care services among the health care team.

Cost: $500 for up to 100 participants. Groups over 100 should call for pricing.
This fee includes all participant materials and may include 1.5 continuing education credits for workshop participants (see accreditation statement below). The fee also helps cover program costs like staff and preparation time, Teen Educator training and time, maintenance of continuing education credits, local travel, and program evaluation and improvement. Workshops outside of an existing PATCH program area may be charged an additional travel fee.

Please reach out to PATCH Staff at patch@wiawh.org or 608.251.0139 ext 4 if you have any additional questions about workshop pricing or scheduling. We'd be happy to work with you to make sure PATCH messaging is accessible to you and your colleagues!

Accreditation Statement

PATCH for Teens

PATCH for Teens: Peer-to-Peer is a 60-minute workshop led by PATCH Teen Educators. It is intended to be delivered outside of a typical school classroom setting (e.g., health fairs, conferences, youth group meetings, student organizations/clubs, and other places young people gather to learn from one another). The primary goal is to empower young people to begin managing their own health care experiences, and equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate and advocate for youth-friendly services.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will understand the importance of learning to manage their own health care experiences.

  • Participants will explore steps they can take to make sure they’re getting the care they need and deserve.

  • Participants will gain new skills to help them advocate for their own health and well-being.

Cost: $150. This fee includes all participant materials and helps cover staff preparation time, Teen Educator training and time, local travel, and program evaluation and improvement. Workshops outside of an existing PATCH program area may be charged an additional travel fee.
