Become a Wisconsin Youth Advocate!
PATCH Youth Advocates are 12-21 year olds who are passionate about improving adolescent health. Through the PATCH Youth Advocacy Fellowship, they learn the skills needed to make an impact and create change for their generation. They put these skills into action as statewide adolescent health consultants!
Youth Advocates participate in an intensive, in-person training at the beginning of the program year (including an all expenses paid trip to the training location, which changes annually). They continue their learning through bi-monthly, virtual enrichment meetings. They are paid $12/hour for actively participating in these meetings and other PATCH-approved activities throughout the year. Being a PATCH Youth Advocate is a 9-month commitment.
PATCH IS NOW HIRING YOUTH ADVOCATES IN WISCONSIN.
Applications are due by June 15th to be considered for the 2020/2021 program year.
PATCH stands for Providers and Teens Communicating for Health. We believe that health care practices, programs, and policies should be developed with young people rather than just for them.
Currently, we are seeking Wisconsin youth ages 12-21 to join the 2020/2021 PATCH Advocacy Fellowship team. As a PATCH Youth Advocate, you will learn the skills needed to make an impact and create change for your generation, and will put these skills into action as an adolescent health consultant!
The PATCH Advocacy Fellowship is a 9-month commitment (August – May). All Youth Advocates must attend a required in-person training in Sheboygan, WI. Following training, Youth Advocates will meet twice a month via video conferencing, complete modules each month, and participate in other opportunities and events throughout the year (all optional).
Youth Advocates gain valuable leadership and advocacy experience, improved communication and presentation skills, access to interesting and up-to-date health information, and an opportunity to use their voice to create statewide change. The fellowship is a paid job and also an impressive accomplishment to include on college applications and job resumes.
